STRUKTUR PASAR TENAGA KERJA DAN SELF-EMPLOYMENT DI NEGARA KAWASAN ASIA
This study analyzes the effect of digitalization on self-employment and its correlation with sectoral labor structure in Asian countries. The data used are panel data from Asian countries during 2014–2023, sourced from the World Bank. Country grouping follows the World Bank income classification into developing and advanced countries. Digitalization is measured by internet penetration, while sectoral structure is represented by employment shares in agriculture, industry, and services. The methods include Pearson correlation and panel data regression with robust standard errors. The results show that digitalization has a negative and significant effect on self-employment in developing countries and in the full sample of Asian countries, but no significant effect in advanced countries. The correlation results indicate that digitalization is more closely associated with services, whereas self-employment is more related to agriculture. The findings indicate that digitalization in Asia is more associated with shifts toward wage-based employment than with the aggregate expansion of self-employment. Keywords: digitalization, internet penetration, self-employment, sectoral labor structure, Asia
