DAMPAK INVESTASI ASING DI KEK SEI MANGKEI TERHADAP HUBUNGAN EKONOMI INTERNASIONAL INDONESIA
This study aims to analyze the impact of foreign investment in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Indonesia's international economic relations. The Sei Mangkei SEZ, located in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra, was developed by providing various fiscal and non-fiscal facilities to attract foreign investors and encourage national economic growth. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data obtained through interviews, literature studies, and analysis of official reports from companies and related agencies. The results show that foreign investment in the Sei Mangkei SEZ has a positive impact at the local and national levels. In terms of international trade, PT Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia experienced a 31% increase in exports in the 2024-2025 period, and PT Alliance Consumer Products Indonesia continued to export despite a decline. This indicates that production activities in the area are connected to the global market and contribute to the country's foreign exchange. Meanwhile, PT Aice Sumatera Industry still focuses on the domestic market, but remains part of a multinational company with an international network. From a Global Production Network (GPN) perspective, the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) serves as part of a global production network because its production activities are linked to the strategies of parent companies in various countries. Thus, foreign investment in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) demonstrates Indonesia's integration into the international production and trade system.
