PENGGUNAAN TEPUNG CANGKANG TELUR AYAM SEBAGAI SUMBER MINERAL DALAM FORMULASI PAKAN UNTUK IKAN PATIN (Pangasius sp.)
One of the largest cost components in fish farming is feed. Feed costs can reach 60–70% of total production costs, so the high price of manufactured feed is a major obstacle for catfish farmers. One solution that can be used is to utilize alternative raw materials that come from local sources, are easily obtained, contain minerals, and have relatively low costs, one of which is chicken eggshells. The objective of this study was to determine the percentage of chicken eggshell meal used as a mineral source in feed formulations for catfish. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and three replicates, including 0.0% chicken eggshell meal (P0), 0.5% chicken eggshell meal (P1), chicken eggshell meal 1.0% (P2), chicken eggshell meal 1.5% (P3), and chicken eggshell meal 2.0% (P4). The parameters observed included absolute fish growth, fish survival, protein efficiency ratio, feed efficiency,and water quality. The results showed that the 1.5% chicken eggshell meal dose (P3) had an absolute weight growth of 0.69 g, absolute length growth of 1.45 cm, protein efficiency ratio of 1.64, feed efficiency of 60.24%, and survival rate of 90.74%. Water quality values included a temperature of 25.70-30.00oC, pH of 6.7-7.4, dissolved oxygen of 3.70-4.30 mg L-1, and ammonia of 0.140-0.594 mg L-1. The study showed that the use of chicken eggshell meal in feed at a dose of 1.5% was the best treatment for improving absolute growth, protein efficiency ratio, and feed efficiency optimally.
