ANALISIS STRATEGI ECONOMIC STATECRAFT AMERIKA SERIKAT DALAM INDUSTRI SEMIKONDUKTOR GLOBAL TAHUN 2020-2025
The escalating geopolitical and technological rivalry between the United States and China has generated growing concerns over economic security, supply chain resilience, and technological dominance. In response to these dynamics, the United States has adopted protectionist economic policies, reflecting a shift from its long-standing commitment to economic liberalization. This study aims to examine how the transformation of U.S. economic policy into a strategy of economic statecraft has reshaped the global semiconductor competition landscape. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach based on secondary data, the analysis is grounded in Economic Statecraft theory. The findings indicate that the United States utilizes a combination of positive and negative instruments to influence the behavior of relevant actors, aiming to constrain China’s technological advancement, strengthen strategic alliances, and secure supply chain resilience to maintain technological hegemony. While these protectionist measures have largely achieved their intended strategic objectives, they have also accelerated China’s technological self-reliance, thereby increasing the risk of geoeconomic fragmentation and potentially undermining the United States’ long-term hegemonic control.
