KERAGAMAN NILAI KETERHANTARAN HIDRAULIK TANAH PADA LAHAN GAMBUT DI DESA PERIGI, KECAMATAN PANGKALAN LAMPAM, PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN

Shafwan, Ahmad - Personal Name;

This study aims to determine the variability of hydraulic conductivity (K) of peat soil and the physical factors influencing it in Perigi Village, Pangkalan Lampam District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. Sampling was conducted at 18 points using a systematic random sampling method at depths of 0–30 cm and 30–60 cm. Parameters analyzed included water content (WC), bulk density (BD), total pore space (TPS), permeability, and hydraulic K measured directly in the field using the auger hole method. The analysis results showed very high WC values ranging from 338.62–734.40% with an average of 484.83%, low BD ranging from 0.32–0.69 g/cm³ with an average of 0.45 g/cm³, very high TPS ranging from 73.58–87.81% with an average of 82.54%, very fast permeability ranging from 14.21–48.35 cm hour⁻¹ with an average of 30.40 cm hour⁻¹, and hydraulic K ranging from 25.43–48.48 cm hour⁻¹ with an average of 41.16 cm hour⁻¹, which is classified as fast according to the Soil Survey Staff (1993) criteria. The variability of K values among sample points was influenced by differences in the decomposition level of organic matter, BD values, soil pore space, and local hydrological conditions. Low BD and high TPS reflect the dominance of macropores, which allow very rapid water flow in peat that has not been fully decomposed. The results of this study indicate that peatland management in the study area needs to consider the very fast hydraulic characteristics of the soil, especially in drainage and water conservation planning to maintain the sustainability of the peatland ecosystem.
