PENGETAHUAN LOKAL TANAMAN OBAT TRADISIONAL MARGA BESEMAH (SUKU SEMENDE, SUB SEMENDE DARAT) OKU SELATAN SERTA KONTRIBUSINYA PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA

This study aims to describe medicinal plants used by the people of the Besemah Clan (Semende Tribe, Sub Semende Darat) in Sindang Danau District, Ogan Komering Regency, South Ulu. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method which was carried out from November 2025 to March 2026. Data collection was carried out through field observation and interviews. Sampling was carried out purposively on ten informants consisting of traditional leaders, traditional medicine (batra), and people who have hereditary knowledge related to traditional medicine. The results of the study showed that the people of the Besemah Clan used 42 species of plants in traditional medicine such as fever, cough, wounds, stomach pain, and skin diseases. The most widely used part of the plant is the leaves, followed by the stems, fruits, stems, and roots. The processing process of medicinal plants is generally carried out through boiling, clumping, and heating, with the method of use including drinking, applying, or pasting. The findings of this study play a role in documenting the ethnobotanical knowledge of medicinal plants of the Semende Tribe community and can be used as a source of Biology learning at the high school level.
