PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN TIMAH TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK MEMBRAN POLYVINYLIDENE FLUORIDE UNTUK FILTRASI AIR
his study aims to determine the effect of tin (Sn) concentration variations of 1%, 1.5%, and 2% on the characteristics of PVDF membranes for water filtration applications. The membranes were made using the electrospinning method at a voltage of 15 kV and characterized using SEM, tensile tests, water contact angle measurements, and clean water permeability (CWP). The results showed that the addition of Sn affected the morphology, mechanical properties, hydrophilicity, and permeability of the membrane. The membrane with 1% Sn had the best mechanical properties with a maximum stress of 2.1334 MPa, Young's modulus of 13.128 MPa, and elongation at break of 16.25%, while the membrane with 2% Sn showed the best hydrophilicity and permeability with the lowest water contact angle of 22.48° and the highest CWP value. Overall, the addition of Sn was able to increase the hydrophilicity and permeability of the membrane, but lower concentrations provided better mechanical properties so that an optimum composition was needed to obtain a balance in membrane performance.
