PEMANFAATAN TANAMAN BAHAN PANGAN OLEH KOMUNITAS ORANG LOM PADA SUKU MAPUR DAN SUMBANGANNYA TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA

Prananda, Emilia - Personal Name;

This study aims to identify the plant species utilized as food sources by the Lom people and to describe their forms of utilization, levels of cultural significance, and their contribution to senior high school biology learning. The research was conducted in Pejem Hamlet and Air Abik Hamlet, Bangka Regency, involving 30 informants selected through purposive and snowball sampling techniques. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the Lom people utilize 58 species of food plants belonging to 2 classes (Magnoliopsida and Liliopsida), 18 orders, and 27 families. These plants were classified based on the fresh food classification guidelines into several groups, namely cereals; tubers; legumes/pulses/seeds/oily fruits; vegetables; fruits; spices; and refreshing and sweetening ingredients, with vegetables and fruits being the most dominant groups. The utilization of food plants by the community involves various plant parts, particularly fruits and tubers/rhizomes, with the most common preparation methods being consumed raw. Based on the Cultural Food Significance Index (CFSI) analysis, the plants with the highest cultural significance values were cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) and papaya (Carica papaya L.), indicating their important roles in the community’s food system. The findings reveal that the Lom people's food system is adaptive, based on local resources, and reflects traditional knowledge that has been passed down through generations. The results of this study were further developed into a local wisdom-based booklet as an enrichment material for senior high school biology learning on biodiversity topics.
