PENGARUH MEDIA EDUKASI DENTAL HOUSE TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT PADA ANAK USIA 8-9 TAHUN DI SDN 129 PALEMBANG
Background: Oral health issues remain a major concern in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 57.6%, while in South Sumatra it reaches 52.4%. Among children aged 5–9 years, the prevalence of dental and oral health problems reaches 67.3%, partly due to low knowledge regarding dental and oral health maintenance. The Dental House educational media is a visual tool designed to resemble a miniature dental clinic to attract children’s interest through play, thereby enhancing their knowledge of dental and oral health. Objective: To determine the effect of the Dental House educational media on oral health knowledge among 8–9-year-old children at SDN 129 Palembang. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study subjects were 37 third-grade students aged 8–9 years at SDN 129 Palembang. The level of oral health knowledge was measured using a 10-item questionnaire administered before and after the educational media was provided. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: There was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores after the use of the Dental House educational media, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The use of the Dental House educational media had an effect on oral health knowledge among 8- to 9-year-old children at SDN 129 Palembang.
