PENGARUH VARIASI KAMPUH TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK PENGELASAN SMAW BAJA A36 DAN SS304 MENGGUNAKAN ELEKTRODA E309L
Dissimilar welding between carbon steel and stainless steel is widely used in industry because it combines the advantageous properties of both materials. However, differences in the physical and metallurgical characteristics of the two metals can affect the quality of the welded joint. This study aims to analyze the effect of V, X, and K groove variations on the mechanical properties of dissimilar weld joints between ASTM A36 steel and AISI 304 stainless steel using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process with E309L electrodes. An experimental method was employed with a welding current of 100 A. The tests conducted included Charpy impact testing, Vickers hardness testing, and microstructural examination. The results showed that the X-groove produced the highest impact value of 16.119 J, followed by the K-groove at 14.091 J and the V-groove at 12.838 J. The hardness distribution in the X-groove was also more optimal. Microstructural observations revealed the formation of austenite and δ-ferrite in the weld metal, which enhanced joint stability. Overall, the X-groove provided the best weld quality compared to the V- and K-grooves.
