KARAKTERISTIK BEBERAPA SIFAT KIMIA TANAH (pH, Ca, Mg, KTK DAN KEJENUHAN Al-dd) DI PERKEBUNAN KELAPA SAWIT (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) DESA TELUK PAYO, KABUPATEN BANYUASIN

Adzani, Dara Hikmah - Personal Name;

Tidal lowlands have significant potential to be developed as oil palm plantation areas. One of the main problems in tidal soils is the high content of exchangeable aluminum (Al-dd), along with deficiencies of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg). The imbalance between high Al-dd and low Ca and Mg can cause physiological stress in oil palm plants. This study aims to analyze the status of base cations and to develop recommendations for fertilization and liming for oil palm plantations in tidal land located in Teluk Payo Village, Banyuasin Regency. Soil samples were analyzed to determine the contents of Ca-dd, Mg-dd, and Al-dd. This research employed a detailed survey method using a map with a scale of 1:2000. The results showed that Ca-dd (0,95 – 1,35 cmol kg⁻¹) and Mg-dd (0,40 – 0,55 cmol kg⁻¹) were classified as very low, while Al-dd saturation (30,24 – 45,20%) ranged from high to very high. In addition, soil pH values were low, ranging from 3,68 to 4,33, and classified as very acidic, while the cation exchange capacity (CEC) was also low, ranging from 7,5 to 12,5 cmol kg⁻¹. Therefore, recommendations for the application of CaCO₃ lime and MgSO₄ fertilizer are necessary. The highest recommended dose of CaCO₃ lime was found in sample S7 at 4,840.5 kg ha⁻¹, while the lowest was in sample S4 at 3,349.5 kg ha⁻¹. This indicates that the oil palm plantation soil is acidic and requires more intensive improvement. Meanwhile, the recommended MgSO₄ fertilizer requirement was relatively stable, with the highest dose in sample S7 at 1,346.9 kg ha⁻¹ and the lowest in sample S11 at 1,200 kg ha⁻¹. This application aims to support the physiological processes of the plants.
