ANALISIS PERBANDINGAN OPTIMALISASI LAHAN SAWAH PADA KONDISI RAWA DESA EMBACANG BARU ILIR DAN NON-RAWA DESA PELANG KENIDAI, SUMATERA SELATAN
South Sumatra Province possesses significant agricultural land potential, both in swamp and non-swamp areas; however, its utilization has not yet been optimal due to issues related to water management systems and irrigation infrastructure. This study aims to analyze and compare the optimization of paddy fields under swamp and non-swamp conditions, as well as to determine effective irrigation designs and systems to meet water demands for each land type. The research employs a quantitative-comparative method, utilizing primary data collected from non-swamp land in Pelang Kenidai Village, Pagar Alam City, and secondary data from swamp land in Embacang Baru Ilir Village, Musi Rawas Utara Regency. The analysis covers topographic and hydrological conditions, evaluation of existing irrigation systems, and the planning and design of optimized irrigation networks. The results indicate that in non-swamp areas, the primary issue is water scarcity during the dry season, which can be addressed through channel normalization and the use of pumps to improve water distribution, thereby increasing the Cropping Intensity Index (CII). Meanwhile, in swamp areas, the main challenges are inundation and flooding, which can be mitigated through the construction of embankments, sluice gates, and pumping systems to regulate water levels and reduce waterlogging.
