KAJIAN STRUKTUR ANATOMI BATANG DAN DAUN TUMBUHAN HERBA DI CAGAR BUDAYA BUKIT SIGUNTANG DAN PEMANFAATANNYA PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA
This study aims to determine the characteristics of the anatomical structure of the stems and leaf epidermis of herbaceous plants in the Bukit Siguntang Cultural Reserve. The study was conducted in November–December 2025 at the Biology Education Laboratory of Sriwijaya University. This study is a qualitative study with a descriptive method. The research samples consisted of nine species of herbaceous plants from two families, namely Cyperaceae and Poaceae. The observed anatomical characteristics of the stem included: the number of epidermal layers; the shape and size of epidermal cells; the type, position, and size of collenchyma; the shape and size of parenchyma; the type and position of sclerenchyma; the type of vascular bundles; and the type of trichomes. The observed characteristics of the leaf epidermis included: the shape and size of epidermal cells; stomatal type; stomatal distribution; stomatal size; cork cells; and trichome types. The results showed that the stems of Cyperaceae and Poaceae generally have a single-layered epidermis, with rectangular cells elongated radially. Stem trichomes were only found in Fimbristylis dichotoma. Parenchyma cells are hexagonal and isodiametric in shape. Fiber type sclerenchyma is located beneath the epidermis and in the xylem and phloem regions. The vascular bundle type is closed collateral. In the leaves, epidermal cells are rectangular with wavy cell walls. The stomatal type is paracytic, with both hypostomatic and amphistomatic distributions. Cork cells were found only in the Poaceae family. The trichomes identified were glandular and non-glandular types. Each tissue exhibits variation in cell size. The results of this study can be used as enrichment material in the form of a booklet for senior high school Biology learning (Phase F) on the topic of plant tissue and organ structure.
