SISTEM PENDINGIN PASIF BERBASIS PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL (PCM) PARAFIN DAN PARAFIN–GRAFIT TERHADAP EFISIENSI PANEL SURYA MONOKRISTALIN 50 WP
The utilization of solar energy continues to grow in line with the increasing demand for electricity. Solar panels convert solar radiation into electrical energy; however, an increase in surface temperature reduces their performance and efficiency. One approach to overcome this issue is the use of a passive cooling system based on Phase Change Material (PCM). This study investigates the effect of a PCM-based passive cooling system on the performance of solar panels with variations of no cooling, paraffin, and paraffin–graphite mixture. The results show that the panel using the paraffin–graphite mixture produced the best performance with a maximum power of 26.49 W and the highest efficiency of 9.58%, higher than the panel using paraffin with a maximum power of 25.61 W and an efficiency of 9.01%, and the panel without cooling with a maximum power of 24.71 W and an efficiency of 8.51%. The results indicate that the paraffin–graphite mixture used in a passive cooling system improves the efficiency of solar panels. This improvement is attributed to the high thermal conductivity of graphite, which accelerates heat distribution, leading to lower panel temperatures and enhanced efficiency.
