PENGUJIAN POTENSI MINYAK NYAMPLUNG-NANOSILICA SEBAGAI BAHAN ISOLASI TEGANGAN TINGGI
The increasing demand for environmentally friendly insulating materials has encouraged the development of renewable-based insulating oils as alternatives to conventional mineral oils. One promising vegetable oil is Tamanu oil (Calophyllum inophyllum), which is biodegradable and abundantly available in Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate the potential of Tamanu oil modified with nanosilica as a high-voltage insulating material. Several physicochemical characteristics were investigated, including moisture content, flash point, viscosity, density, and acid number. Nanosilica was added at various concentrations to examine its effect on the oil properties. The experimental results show that the addition of nanosilica influences the characteristics of Tamanu oil by increasing viscosity and density while reducing the acid number. However, the increase in moisture content and the occurrence of nanosilica agglomeration adversely affected certain parameters, particularly the flash point. Overall, Tamanu oil–nanosilica demonstrates potential as a high-voltage insulating material; nevertheless, proper control of moisture content and improved nanoparticle dispersion are required to achieve properties that comply with insulation standards.
