PENGETAHUAN MASYARAKAT MENGENAI RAWA SEBAGAI POTENSI OBJEK WISATA ALAM DI GANDUS KOTA PALEMBANG
This study aims to determine the level of community knowledge regarding wetlands as a potential natural tourism attraction in Gandus District, Palembang City, particularly in terms of their ecological functions and economic, social, and cultural benefits. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The population consisted of all heads of households (HH) in Karang Anyar Village, totaling 4,116 HH, with a sample of 98 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the overall level of community knowledge reached 67%, which falls into the high category (61%–80%), indicating that the community has a fairly good understanding of the potential and benefits of wetlands as natural tourism attractions. Community understanding tends to be higher in the aspects of economic, social, and cultural benefits, such as increased income, strengthened social interaction, and preservation of local culture. However, knowledge regarding the ecological functions of wetlands and their development potential as tourism attractions is still uneven. Therefore, continuous efforts in education, socialization, and community involvement are needed to enhance more equitable understanding and support the sustainable development of wetland tourism.
