PERAN MASYARAKAT DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEBERSIHAN LINGKUNGAN DI SEKITAR TPA DESA PALEM RAYA KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR
Community roles refer to the involvement of individuals or groups in activities aimed at achieving common goals. Environmental cleanliness is a condition of a healthy, green, and comfortable environment that is free from waste, dirt, and unpleasant odors. This study aims to analyze the role of the community in improving environmental cleanliness around the Palem Raya Landfill, Ogan Ilir Regency, using a descriptive qualitative approach. The research informants consisted of seven people: 4 residents living near the landfill, 2 residents living farther away, and 1 village head. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with source and technique triangulation. The results show that community contribution is still not optimal. Material participation is voluntary, non-material participation is still individual with no courage to express concerns, action-based participation is limited to household cleanliness, and social participation is low due to the absence of collective activities initiated by the village government. Thus, community involvement remains relatively passive and needs to be improved to become more active and organized.
