PENGARUH EDUKASI TENTANG KODE INTERNASIONAL PEMASARAN PRODUK PENGGANTI ASI TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN DAN SELF-EFFICACY IBU MENYUSUI
Exclusive breastfeeding is an important practice in supporting infant growth, but its coverage in Indonesia has not yet reached the national target. Promotion of breastmilk substitutes products can influence mothers' decisions in breastfeeding. The World Health Organization (WHO) established the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes to protect breastfeeding practices. However, mothers' knowledge about the code is still limited and can affect self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of education about the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes on the knowledge and self-efficacy of breastfeeding mothers in the Kutaraya Public Health Center, OKI, South Sumatra. Quantitative study with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted on 30 breastfeeding mothers selected by purposive sampling. Data analysis used the Marginal Homogeneity and McNemar tests. Before education, the majority of respondents' knowledge was in the sufficient (50%) and poor (43.3%) categories, while after education, the majority became good (90%) (p value = 0.000). Self-efficacy before education was still in the low category (33.3%), and after education, all respondents were in the high category (100%) (p value = 0.002). These findings showed that increasing knowledge through education contributes to increasing self-efficacy of breastfeeding mothers. Theoretically, knowledge is an important factor in shaping individual self-confidence in health decision-making. With increased understanding of the international code, mothers become better able to assess information and reduce the effect of promotions for breast milk substitute products. Health education about the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes significantly increased the knowledge and self-efficacy of breastfeeding mothers in the working area of Kutaraya Public Health Center, OKI, South Sumatra.
