ANALISIS EFISIENSI ENERGI DYE-SENSITIZED SOLAR CELL (DSSC) MENGGUNAKAN PIGMEN ANTOSIANIN, PIGMEN KURKUMIN, DAN PIGMEN KLOROFIL SEBAGAI SENSITIZER

Alfaksi, Alfaksi - Personal Name;

The increasing global energy demand and depletion of fossil fuel resources have accelerated the development of environmentally friendly photovoltaic technologies, including Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). Natural pigments have attracted considerable attention as alternative sensitizers due to their low cost, renewability, and eco-friendly properties. However, studies combining anthocyanin, chlorophyll, and curcumin within a single DSSC system remain limited. This study aims to analyze the energy conversion efficiency of DSSCs employing single and combined natural pigments as sensitizers. This research was conducted as a laboratory-based experimental study using a quantitative approach. Four DSSC samples were fabricated using anthocyanin (red spinach), chlorophyll (green spinach), curcumin (turmeric), and an equal-ratio combination of the three pigments. Optical characterization was performed using UV-Vis spectrophotometry to determine absorption spectra, while photovoltaic performance was evaluated under a solar simulator with AM 1.5G irradiation at 100 mW/cm² to obtain Voc, Jsc, fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (η).The results indicate that the combined pigment exhibited broader light absorption and achieved the highest open-circuit voltage of 0.69 V and maximum efficiency of 0.0277%. Compared to single pigments, the combined sensitizer demonstrated superior photovoltaic performance. These findings suggest that natural pigment co-sensitization is a promising strategy for enhancing DSSC performance as a sustainable third-generation solar cell technology.
