TINGKAT PEMBERDAYAAN DAN STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN KELOMPOK WANITA TANI DALAM OPTIMALISASI PEMANFAATAN PEKARANGAN DI KOTA PALEMBANG

The utilization of home gardens is a strategic effort to meet household and environmental needs. Empowering Women Farmers Groups is an essential step to enhance the skills and welfare of their members in optimizing this potential. This study aims to: (1) measure the empowerment level of KWT in optimizing home garden utilization, (2) analyze the internal and external factors influencing KWT development, and (3) formulate development strategies for KWT to optimize home garden utilization in Palembang City. This study employed a survey method with a descriptive quantitative approach. Data collection was conducted from February to March 2025 at two active KWTs in Palembang City: KWT Anggrek and KWT Mekar. The respondents consisted of all KWT members for the activity identification and factor analysis stages, as well as key respondents for strategy formulation. Primary data were gathered through questionnaires and interviews, while secondary data were obtained from group documents. Data analysis used the Likert scale to measure the empowerment level and SWOT analysis to formulate strategic priorities. The results of the study indicated that: (1) the empowerment level of KWT in optimizing home garden utilization was in the high category, with an average score of 60.37; (2) the internal and external factors of KWT were in a strong position, where cultivation skills and active participation served as the main strengths, limited capital and product processing were the primary weaknesses, high market demand was the greatest opportunity, and pest/disease infestations along with tight product competition were the main threats; (3) the KWT development strategy was positioned in Quadrant I, recommending the implementation of an S-O (Strength-Opportunities) strategy by leveraging all group strengths to optimally capture market opportunities.
