EVALUASI PERFORMA DYE SENSITIZED SOLAR CELL (DSSC) BERBASIS MATERIAL DYE ALAMI DENGAN SISTEM MONITORING INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)

Aldzikri, Muhammad Thouriq - Personal Name;

The utilization of solar energy as a renewable energy source continues to grow along with the increasing demand for environmentally friendly energy. One of the technologies that has been widely studied is the Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) due to its relatively simple fabrication process, low production cost, and the ability to utilize natural dyes as sensitizers. However, the performance monitoring of DSSC is still often conducted conventionally, resulting in solar cell performance data that cannot be monitored in real time. This study aims to evaluate the performance of DSSC based on natural dyes by implementing an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system. The research method used is an experimental method with a monitoring system design approach. The system is designed using an ESP32 microcontroller connected to an INA219 sensor for current and voltage measurement and a BH1750 sensor for light intensity measurement. Measurement data are transmitted in real time to the ThingSpeak and Blynk platforms for visualization and data storage. The results show that the designed IoT system is capable of continuously monitoring DSSC electrical parameters, including voltage, current, output power, light intensity, and efficiency in real time. Based on the experimental results, the developed DSSC exhibits a performance degradation factor of 17.85% during the observation period. In addition, the relationship between light intensity and DSSC performance can be analyzed more effectively through data stored on the cloud platform. Therefore, the implementation of an IoT-based monitoring system can improve the effectiveness of DSSC performance evaluation in real time.
