EFEKTIVITAS BIMBINGAN KELOMPOK DENGAN TEKNIK ROLE PLAYING DALAM MENINGKATKAN SELF CONTROL PADA SISWA DI SMP NEGERI 1 SUNGAI PINANG
This study was motivated by the low level of self-control among students, as evidenced by impulsive behavior, difficulty controlling emotions, and violations of school rules. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling using role-playing techniques in improving self-control among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Pinang. This study employs a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consists of 153 students, with a sample of 8 students selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a self-control questionnaire. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis, normality tests, N-Gain tests, and hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in students’ self- control following the group counseling intervention using the role-playing technique. The pretest mean score of 60.00 increased to 87.75 on the posttest. The N-Gain test results showed an average value of 69.42%, which falls into the “moderately effective” category. Additionally, the hypothesis test results indicated a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H₀ and the acceptance of H₁. Thus, it can be concluded that group counseling using the role-playing technique is effective in improving the self-control of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Pinang.
