PENGOLAHAN TANAH PADA KEGIATAN LAND PREPARATION DENGAN BULLRIPPER PADA BERBAGAI KONDISI TOPOGRAFI DI HUTAN TANAM INDUSTRI PT. MUSI HUTAN PERSADA
Land preparation activities in Industrial Plantation Forests (HTI) face constraints such as compact Ultisol soil conditions, the presence of a hardpan layer, and variations in land topography that affect equipment performance. In this study, a bullripper was used to loosen hard soil layers and to create mounds along planting lines. The objective of this research was to evaluate the performance of the bullripper in land preparation activities under different topographic conditions. The study was conducted using a descriptive quantitative approach through direct measurements in the HTI area of PT. Musi Hutan Persada across three topographic conditions, namely flat, middle, and sloping areas. The observed parameters included slip, turning time, ripping depth, operating speed, theoretical capacity, effective capacity, field efficiency, and soil draft. The results showed that the bullripper was most effective when operated on flat topography, as indicated by the lowest slip value of 6.64%, the highest operating speed of 0.81 m/s, the highest theoretical and effective capacities of 0.46 ha/h and 0.36 ha/h, respectively, the highest field efficiency of 77.01%, and the lowest soil draft of 38.5 kN.
