Khairiyah, Annisa Hafidzatul - Personal Name;

The availability of clean water for aquaculture is increasingly threatened due to growing pressure on water resources, while aquaculture waste is generally not yet optimally treated. Waste from catfish (Clarias sp.) farming contains high levels of organic matter and nutrients, such as ammonia and phosphate, which can degrading water quality. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a Constructed Wetland integrated recirculating system (CW-R) in reducing ammonia and phosphate concentrations and improving wastewater quality as a rearing medium for tilapia. The study was carried out using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one control and three plant-based treatments, namely cattail (P1), water bamboo (P2), and water jasmine (P3), each with three replications. The results showed that the water jasmine treatment (P3) performed best in improving water quality, reducing ammonia to 0.012 mg L⁻¹, phosphate to 1.386 mg L⁻¹, increasing dissolved oxygen to 6.5 mg L⁻¹, and decreasing BOD₅ to 1.466 mg L⁻¹. During maintenance, the highest value was obtained in the third treatment (water jasmine) with a significantly different absolute weight growth of 1.574 g, while other growth parameters were not significantly different, with a length growth of 0.988 cm, survival reaching 100%, and feed efficiency of 39.01%. These results indicate that the CW-R system has good potential as an environmentally friendly technology in processing aquaculture waste and supporting efficient water use.
