KOMBINASI ONGGOK DAN Indigofera zollingeriana FERMENTASI SEBAGAI SUBSTITUSI JAGUNG DALAM RANSUM TERHADAP KARKAS DAN INCOME OVER FEED COST AYAM BROILER
The demand for broiler chicken meat continues to increase, therefore high-quality feed is required to support optimal production. Corn is the main energy source in broiler rations; however, its availability and price often fluctuate, making it necessary to find alternative feed ingredients. Onggok, a by-product of cassava processing, has the potential to be used as an energy source but contains low protein. Therefore, it needs to be combined with protein-rich feed ingredients such as Indigofera zollingeriana leaves. Through fermentation, the nutritional quality and digestibility of these ingredients can be improved, making them potential substitutes for corn in broiler rations. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of fermented onggok and Indigofera zollingeriana as a substitute for corn in feed on carcass quality, abdominal fat, and income over feed cost in broiler chickens. The research was conducted from January to February for 28 days at the Poultry Cage of the Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and four replications. The treatments were P0 = control ration, P1 = substitution of corn with 25% fermented onggok and Indigofera, P2 = substitution of corn with 50% fermented onggok and Indigofera, P3 = substitution of corn with 75% fermented onggok and Indigofera, and P4 = substitution of corn with 100% fermented onggok and Indigofera. The results showed that the treatments had a significant effect on abdominal fat but had no significant effect on final body weight, carcass percentage, and income over feed cost. The final body weight ranged from 1312.75 to 1426.75 g, carcass percentage ranged from 68.83% to 72.01%, and abdominal fat percentage ranged from 0.47% to 1.92%. The income over feed cost ranged from Rp 11.445,26 - Rp 14.598,68 per bird. In conclusion, the inclusion of fermented onggok and Indigofera leaves in the ration significantly affected (P0.05) final body weight, carcass percentage, and income over feed cost of broiler chickens.
