ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN PERILAKU PERSONAL HYGIENE SAAT MENSTRUASI PADA REMAJA PUTRI DI SMP NEGERI 1 INDRALAYA
Poor personal hygiene practices during menstruation constitute a serious reproductive health issue for adolescent girls, with the prevalence of such poor behavior in Indonesia recorded at 63.9%. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with personal hygiene behavior during menstruation among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. This quantitative study utilized a cross-sectional design involved 242 female students selected through a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Multiple Logistic Regression. The results showed that 47.1% of the students still had poor personal hygiene behavior during menstruation. Multivariate analysis revealed that social support was the most dominant factor influencing the behavior (p < 0.001; OR = 2.945), meaning that students with inadequate social support had a 2.9 times higher risk of having poor hygiene behavior. Knowledge (p = 0.005; OR = 2.049) and attitude (p = 0.001; OR = 2.621) variables were also associated with the behavior, while the information source (p = 0.121) variable was retained as a confounder for knowledge. It is concluded that the social environment is a determining factor in shaping personal hygiene behavior during menstruation among adolescent girls in the school. The school administration is advised to initiate health and menstrual hygiene education and optimize the role of the Youth Information and Counseling Center (PIK-R) cadres as peer educators to create a supportive school environment in promoting proper personal hygiene behavior during menstruation among students.
