PENGARUH LITERASI KEUANGAN TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN BUDGETING MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI PENDIDIKAN EKONOMI UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA

Financial literacy is an important factor in building financial awareness. This literacy allows individuals to have the knowledge and ability to manage finances and budgeting skills. However, in reality students often face challenges in financial management, especially in applying budgeting skills. This research aims to prove the influence of financial literacy on the budgeting skills of students in the Sriwijaya University Economic Education Study Program. This research uses a quantitative approach with a causal associative method. The population of this study were active students of the Economic Education Study Program from the class of 2022 - 2025. The research sample was taken using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique where the sample was selected randomly and proportionally within each stratum, so that a sample size of 79 students was obtained. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire which has been tested for validity with Pearson Product Moment and reliability with Cronbach's Alpha, as well as using interviews and documentation. The data analysis method uses prerequisite tests consisting of normality tests and linearity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using simple linear regression tests. The results of the research show that there is an influence of financial literacy on the budgeting skills of students in the Economic Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University with the hypothesis test results t_count 13.922 ≥ t_table 1.991254 and the results of the differentiation coefficient of 71.21%, meaning that financial literacy influences budgeting skills and the rest is influenced by other variables not examined in this research. These results reflect that the better the financial literacy that students have, the better their budgeting skills will be. Therefore, it is hoped that students can improve their budgeting skills, especially in getting used to making a budget and being disciplined in complying with it so that financial management is wiser, and so that in the future they will not experience financial difficulties.
