Farmer institutional strengthening was an important effort to support agricultural development, particularly in improving farming productivity. Farmer groups, as part of these institutions, were recognized as having a strategic role in enhancing farmers' capacities through learning activities, cooperation among members, and the provision of production facilities. Through the effective implementation of these roles, farmers were expected to obtain better access to information, technology, and production inputs, thereby improving the productivity and success of swamp lowland rice farming. The objectives of this research were (1) to assess the role of farmer groups as learning classes, cooperation forums, and production units in Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province, (2) to calculate the productivity of swamp lowland rice produced by farmers in Pelabuhan Dalam Village, and (3) to analyze the relationship between the role of farmer groups and the productivity of swamp lowland rice. The research method used was a survey method, and sampling was conducted using a stratified purposive sampling method among swamp lowland rice farmers who were members of farmer groups. The total number of respondents in this study was 78 farmers. The data were analyzed using a Likert scale to assess the role of farmer groups, productivity analysis to calculate rice yield per hectare, and the Spearman Rank correlation test to analyze the relationship between the role of farmer groups and swamp lowland rice productivity. Samples were taken from each farmer group according to the number of members in each group, while the respondents who served as farmer group administrators (chairperson, secretary, or treasurer) were selected purposively because they were considered the most representative in representing the farmer groups. The data used in this study consisted of primary and secondary data. The results showed that (1) the role of farmer groups in Pelabuhan Dalam Village obtained a score of 51.22 and was categorized as active, where the roles as learning classes and production units were classified as very active, while the role as a cooperation forum was categorized as active; (2) rice productivity in Pelabuhan Dalam Village was 4.39 tons/ha and was categorized as moderate; and (3) there was a significant relationship between the role of farmer groups and swamp lowland rice productivity with a significance value of 0.022 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.259, which was classified as low/weak and positive.
