PEMANFAATAN PELEPAH DAUN KELAPA (Cocos nucifera L.) DALAM PEMBUATAN BRIKET BIOARANG RAMAH LINGKUNGAN SEBAGAI ENERGI ALTERNATIF
This study aims to analyze the quality of biochar briquettes made from coconut fronds (Cocos nucifera L.) as an environmentally friendly alternative energy source. The briquettes were produced through carbonization at 250°C for 2 hours, followed by grinding and sieving to 20 mesh. The charcoal powder was mixed with tapioca adhesive at variations of 10%, 20%, and 30%, with the addition of 0.2 grams of potassium chlorate, then pressed at 400 psi and dried at 105°C. Quality testing was conducted based on moisture content, ash content, calorific value, burning rate, and burning time parameters in accordance with SNI 01-6235-2000. The results showed that the 20% adhesive variation produced the best quality, with a moisture content of 6.54%, ash content of 7.58%, and a calorific value of 5801.38 cal/g. This variation also exhibited a lower burning rate (0.16 g/min) and a burning time of 266 minutes. Therefore, this variation has strong potential as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative energy source.
