AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN SENYAWA METABOLIT SEKUNDER DAUN Waltheria indica L.
The increasing incidence of degenerative diseases is related to oxidative stress caused by free radicals. The body needs antioxidants to ward off these free radicals. One of the best sources of antioxidants is secondary metabolites from plants. Waltheria indica L., an invasive plant, is known to produce secondary metabolites with antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol fractions of Waltheria indica leaf water, compound groups and Inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of the purified isolates. This study was conducted from September to December 2025 through the process of extraction, fractionation, testing the antioxidant activity of fractions using TLC, compound isolation, compound classification and determination of IC50 values using the DPPH method. The results of this study are presented in the form of tables, figures and graphs. The results indicate that the n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions have antioxidant activity, while the water-methanol fraction does not. A total of five pure compounds were obtained from W.indica leaves, coded N1, N2, N3, E3, and E4. These compounds belong to three groups of compounds that act as antioxidants: terpenoids obtained from isolate N1, flavonoids obtained from isolates N2, N3, and E4, and steroids obtained from isolate E3. These five isolates had IC50 values of 24,830 ppm, 49,895 ppm, 82,433 ppm, 210,435 ppm, and 91,633 ppm, respectively. Isolates N1 and N2 have very strong antioxidant activity, indicating that W. indica leaves have potential as a source of natural antioxidant compounds.
