This study aimed to analyze the level of anxiety among boxing athletes from Lubuklinggau City in preparation for the South Sumatra Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) 2025 held in Musi Banyuasin Regency. Anxiety is a crucial psychological factor that can influence athletic performance, particularly in individual sports such as boxing, which require optimal physical and mental readiness. Various pressures, including expectations from coaches, the environment, and self-demands, may contribute to the emergence of anxiety in athletes. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach. The population consisted of all boxing athletes representing Lubuklinggau City in PORPROV 2025, and total sampling was applied. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measuring athletes’ anxiety levels. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to determine the distribution and categorization of anxiety levels. The findings indicated that the majority of athletes experienced anxiety at low to moderate levels. Anxiety was identified in both cognitive and somatic dimensions, particularly prior to competition. Several contributing factors included competitive experience, mental preparedness, and external pressures. Despite the presence of anxiety, most athletes were able to manage it effectively, minimizing its negative impact on performance. In conclusion, anxiety is a common psychological response among boxing athletes; however, with proper management, it can be controlled and may not significantly hinder performance. Therefore, it is recommended that coaches and sports institutions provide structured psychological training and mental support programs to enhance athletes’ readiness in competitive settings.
