POTENSI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN PULAI (Alstonia scholaris) SEBAGAI BIOLARVASIDA TERHADAP LARVA Culex sp. INSTAR III
Mosquito larvae control generally still uses synthetic larvicides which in the long term can cause resistance and environmental contamination, so safer and more environmentally friendly alternatives are needed. Pulai leaves are known (Alstonia scholaris) to contain secondary metabolite compounds that have the potential as biolarvicides. This study aims to determine the effective concentration of pulai leaf ethanol extract on the mortality of Culex sp. instar III larvae and to determine the LC₅₀ and LC₉₀ values as indicators of its toxicity. The study was conducted in November 2025 at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, and the Animal Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments, namely negatif control (aquadest), positive control (temephos), and four extract concentrations (2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%) with four replications. The parameters observed included mortality, behavior, and morphology of larvae, then analyzed using ANOVA, Duncan's test, and probit analysis. The results showed that the ethanol extract of pulai leaves significantly affected the mortality of Culex sp. larvae, with effective concentrations at 7.5% and 10%. The LC₅₀ and LC₉₀ values at 48 hours were 5.144% and 10.225%, respectively, so that pulai leaf extract has the potential to be an effective natural biolarvicide.
