OPTIMALISASI PERSEDIAAN BERAS DENGAN SIMULASI MONTE CARLO DAN MODEL ECONOMIC ORDER QUANTITY (EOQ) DI PERUM BULOG SUMSEL-BABEL
Inventory is a critical aspect of food management that is inseparable from BULOG’s role. In carrying out its duties, BULOG serves as the agency responsible for ensuring food availability and stability particularly for rice through effective inventory control. Inventory control is the process of managing and monitoring inventory levels to ensure they remain at optimal levels. In meeting inventory needs, BULOG’s South Sumatra-Bangka Belitung Regional Division faces several challenges in the process of fulfilling rice inventory requirements for public needs. BULOG faces unpredictable fluctuations in demand, making it difficult to determine the optimal inventory level. This demand uncertainty has the potential to cause excess or shortage of inventory, which impacts the increase in inventory costs for two types of rice, namely Medium PSO and Commercial. Therefore, a method is needed that can predict demand probabilistically and determine optimal inventory policies. This study aims to predict rice demand for the next period using Monte Carlo simulation and to determine optimal inventory policies based on these predictions using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model. Based on the results of data analysis conducted on two types of rice, the most optimal inventory policy was determined. The optimal order quantity for Medium PSO rice is 1,556,600 kg with a Total Inventory Cost (TIC) of IDR 626,640,128, and for Commercial rice is 749,208 kg with a TIC of IDR 299,683,288.
