HUBUNGAN PERILAKU PERSONAL HYGIENE DENGAN KEJADIAN SKABIES DI PONDOK PESANTREN AL-ITTIFAQIAH INDRALAYA

The prevalence of scabies worldwide is around 300 million cases per year. There have been 30-55 cases of scabies in Al-Ittifaqiah Islamic Boarding School Indralaya in the last three months. The itchiness experienced by suf erers due to scabies can lead to sleep disorders, decrease in the learning process, and reduced self-confidence. Sleep disorders can af ect concentration during the learning process, memory and emotional health. This study aimed to find out the relationship between personal hygiene behavior and incidence of scabies in Al-Ittifaqiah Islamic Boarding School Indralaya. This study used analytical survey method with cross sectional approach. The number of sample was 145 respondents counted using purposive sampling technique. The result of chi-square statistical test showed that there was a significant relationship between personal hygiene behavior and the incidence of scabies with p- value of 0.000. The high prevalence of scabies can be prevented by providing interventions to increase knowledge and awareness of personal hygiene behavior by involving all individuals in one dwelling unit.
