PENGEMBANGAN APLIKASI DIABETES CARE SEBAGAI SELF CARE MANAGEMENT DALAM PENGENDALIAN KADAR GLUKOSA DARAH PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 BERBASIS ANDROID

Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) are be able to suffer complications when the blood glucose levels are not controlled continually. The complications are microvaskuler and macrovaskuler complications. The microvascular complications are more caused by chronic hyperglycemia, while the macrovascular complications are generally caused by insulin resistance. The management of type 2 DM with the principle of self care management is required in controlling blood glucose levels to minimize complications. Self care management includes diet, physical exercise, education and as well as the adherence to consume antidiabetic drugs and inject insulin. The research was conducted to develop diabetes care application based on android as an effort to help self-management in controlling blood glucose. The research method used research and development (R&D) and qualitative method approach. The development of diabetes care application based on android was carried out 2 tests, namely blackbox testing to find out the success of the application and validation testing to validate diabetes care in term of some sources. The results of this study produced diabetes care application as self care management in type 2 DM patients based on android and description of diabetes care application by some sources. The diabetes care application with qualitative approach contained self care management guidelines including diet menu, education, alarm, and foot steps tracking as a physical exercise for type 2 DM patients. The diabetes care application has a good performance and performs the expected functions as it should be in accordance with self care management guidelines. The development of diabetes care application as self care management can be a reference in controlling the blood glucose levels for the management of type 2 DM to minimize complications due to the uncontrolled blood glucose leves
